So we all know that the Nissan 240sx chassis is a very fun car to slide around, it is affordable, many parts are made for it, finding replacement pieces is almost effortless, it’s light, many engine options, it is just one of the best platforms for a drift car. the difference between this S13 and all your local neighborhood 240sx is that no corner was cut, and no expense was avoided. Nick and Angel over at Flawless Rides in Escondido California build some of the best looking cars around, there was one problem though. They had spend endless amount of time and money on parts and labor wondering why their car was not performing how it should. When I brought their car in it was obvious there was allot of stuff done wrong. This SR20DET was in desperate need for the proper service and tune. We started by timing the engine properly and did a compression test, when we saw the numbers it was obvious this engine was done.

The only right thing to do when an engine that is in a race car check’s out and it has stock internals is to build it. wasting no time and without any hesitation we ordered a set of CP 87mm 9:1 compression pistons, Eagle H Beam Rods, Clevite Race Bearings, Cosworth 1.5mm Metal Head Gasket, ARP Head studs, and ARP Rod Bolts. When everything arrived we sent out the block to Wayne’s Engine Rebuilders in Riverside CA. as always Louie took care of us and made sure the engine was machined, measured and up to Spec.

Since we had the Bottom end taken care of, now we had something that could take advantage of the awesome valve train the car has. The head was equiped with Brian Crower Springs, retainers, bronze valve guides, and HKS 272 Camshafts. that will really help take full advantage of the ISIS intake manifold, and SARD 850cc injectors, the other cam will help the ISIS Exhaust manifold Spool the Garrett GT2876R Dual Ball Bearing Turbo. Look forward to part 2 for when we put this bad boy back in it’s rightful home and tune it for optimum power.
